Dr. Andrew Cuthbert, PsyD
Dr. Andrew Cuthbert (He/Him) is the Clinical Director, overseeing the Relationship Institute at Timber Creek Counseling. He is an expert in couples counseling. His clinical expertise has been featured in top tier press including Women's Health, Shape, National Geographic, Parade, Parents, among other national publications. He has done a variety of speaking and writing on relationship issues, and he also does training and supervising of other couples counselors. To meet the variety of needs for couples, Dr. Cuthbert oversees the couples counseling team at Timber Creek Counseling, and as time allows offers short-term consultations for couples, long-term counseling, couples retreats, and couples workshops.
He received his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College. He previously worked at University of Michigan's Mary A. Rackham Institute, where he trained across the lifespan and received specialized training for couples and family issues. He has previous experience in both counseling and assessment in a community mental health setting, a legal center providing wrap-around care, intensive and partial-hospitalization programs, and college counseling centers.
In his couples work, he has pioneered the use of core relationship practices that are informed from relationship science and theory (integrating popular theories, such as Gottman, EFCT, ACT, and others, but also moving beyond those theories). His method is focused on being easy to access and implement for couples, including those suspicious or hesitant to engage with couples counseling, while also being of the highest level of quality and effectiveness. Outside of couples counseling, he also loves training other couples counselors and helping businesses to foster healthy relationships in the workplace.
